When we first learned that a new series called The Duchess would arrive on Netflix, we wondered how it’s possible that we had let the news of a documentary about Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle go through.
It turns out that the next seriousness has nothing to do with the members of the royal family. In fact, it’s a drama series written through actress Katherine Ryan. Naturally, we were curious and immersed ourselves deeply to realize everything we could about the British drama. Read on to learn everything we know about the Duchess.
According to Netflix’s official synopsis, the six-episode series follows the “powerful and problematic decisions” of a posing, disruptive single mother living in London. His daughter, Olive, is his greatest love, so she debates for a moment with her greatest enemy: Olive’s father. Can two mistakes make one?
Canadian actress Katherine Ryan not only created and wrote the series, she also produces and performs it. She has already released two stand-up specials on the platform, Katherine Ryan: In Trouble and Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room.
In an interview with Radio Times, he talked about the joy of doing a scripted show.
“I’ve never written a sitcom, which makes it very different [from my previous Netflix specials], and it’s a challenge because I’m not an experienced screenwriter, I don’t know the rules, I’m reporting the rules. I’m also informed that Netflix allows you to break many of those rules, and they only need original voices from all over the world,” he said in the middle. “The Duchess is super original, I think, my userality, my character level, because she is a disruptive mother who is a bad user but an intelligent mother. She’s fashionable, she loves being a mother, she’s not unhappy about it – it’s me, yes ».
In addition to Ryan, The Duchess stars Steen Raskopoulos, Rory Keenan, Michelle De Swarte and Kate Bryne.
