It was first announced in 2020 that director James Mangold was making plans to write and direct a biopic about Bob Dylan, starring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan. This movie, however, is being made, with some local scenes filmed. Mangold also directed Walk the Line, the film about the young life of singer-songwriter Johnny Cash.

One of the most appealing aspects of filming the movie in Cape May is seeing all the vintage cars from the 1960s on the streets throughout the week.

The cast includes Elle Fanning, Edward Norton, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Nick Offerman. A Complete Unknown does not yet have a release date.
