12 PG Movies You Probably Shouldn’t Watch With Your Kids

We can all agree that the existing musical formula for films has some flaws. But in the past, it was much harder: Before the PG-13 rating was introduced in 1984, parents had no idea what to expect from their relatives when I went to see a PG-rated movie at the theater. Before you plan your next movie night, here’s a list of PG-rated movies that might sound fun to your family members but may not meet your criteria for relevance.

According to legend, George Lucas brought the character of Indiana Jones to Spielberg as a more attractive archaeologist than James Bond. While Raiders of the Lost Ark reflects this intention, the darker Temple of Doom does not. The excessive violence of the film (the scene where someone literally has the center of their chest ripped off and traumatizes an entire generation) is one of the reasons for the arrival of the PG-13 rating.
