7 New and Streaming Videos on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and More This Weekend (August 2)

It’s time to say goodbye to July, and to celebrate the arrival of August, the world’s most productive streaming service is doing its best to bring you a variety of higher-than-usual quality content to watch.

In fact, there are so many new Netflix videos and TV shows coming out this weekend that this list can include them all. But, to be fair, we need to give you a much wider streaming selection, which is why we’ve only included three, with the highly anticipated Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut leading the way. So even if you’ve had enough of Zack Snyder this year, there’s a lot more to offer about Max, Prime Video, and more. Happy streaming!

I’m not a Zack Snyder superfan, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what Rebel Moon (essentially, a Star Wars film proposal that Snyder repurposed for a new Netflix sci-fi franchise) had to offer when it first went bankrupt in December 2023. Bottom line: I was disappointed. You can read my review of Rebel Moon Part One to learn more about why I wasn’t impressed. Its sequel, Rebel Moon Part Two, followed suit in April.

Batman enthusiasts saddened by the news that The Batman 2 has been delayed until 2026 will be pleased to hear that a new Dark Knight animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader, begins streaming on Prime Video this weekend.

Produced via J. J. Abrams (Star Trek), Matt Reeves (The Batman) and Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), this 10-episode first season, intended for Max, sees Batman fighting Trench Coats and Tommy Guns in Gotham City. Hamish Linklater replaces the late, wonderful Kevin Conroy as the voice of the titular superhero, while McKenna Grace, Jamie Chung, Christina Ricci, John DiMaggio and Minnie Driver star in supporting roles.

This weekend, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes lands on Hulu and Disney Plus, the tenth (!) movie set in the Planet of the Apes universe and a pseudosequel to the excellent War for the Planet of the Apes via Matt Reeves. . the monkeys Set approximately three hundred years in the future, Kingdom centers on an intelligent young ape named Noa (Owen Teague), whose extended family of eagle-raising chimpanzees is captured by the tyrannical bonobo Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand). Freya Allen and William H. Macy also play mysterious human roles, which I couldn’t possibly reveal here.

If you want to find out something interesting this weekend, Mujeres de Azul can teach you a lot about Mexico’s first female police force. The new 10-episode series is based on true stories about those women who defied conservative norms in the 1970s through enlistment in the police.

What intrigued me most about Women in Blue is that the country’s all-female first team is just a diversionary tactic from the real issues, i. e. a ruthless serial killer that is of great interest to the press. Secret research to try and do what its masculine opposite, the numbers, couldn’t. Good for them, honestly.

I’m not only a fan of horror videos, I also love vintage cinema. Many of those mythical Hollywood videos depend on the strength of the stars, and many names of icons. Among them is the ever-brilliant Elizabeth Taylor, and there’s a new HBO. documentary about her.

Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes is the new commission from documentary filmmaker Nanette Burstein, known for Hillary and the Netflix series Killer Sally. This time, it highlights Taylor, newly discovered interviews and access to the star’s private archives. to allow you to tell your own story. The film is said to “challenge audiences to reconsider their legacy” and you can expect to see private photographs, home movies, and clips of their iconic roles everywhere.

I can’t wait to be transported back to my formative years with the new movie Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks, based on the much-loved SpongeBob SquarePants series that I’m sure everyone still loves today. Array In Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Sandy and SpongeBob SquarePants venture to Sandy’s home state of Texas to help save Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and the rest of their friends when Bikini Bottom disappears from the ocean.

For most of this nostalgic cinematic adventure, the film stars the regular voice of the SpongeBob SquarePants series, with Tom Kenny voicing SpongeBob SquarePants, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, and Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick. Memories of coming home from school and watching SpongeBob SquarePants, so I can’t wait to see what Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie has in store for us.

Emma Myers immediately captured me with her memorable performance as the lively werewolf student Enid Sinclair in the hit Netflix series on Wednesday, so I can’t wait to see her in the twisted mystery A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

Based on the novel by Holly Jackson, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows Pip Fitz-Amobi (Myers) as she investigates the murder of a local schoolgirl that still haunts her around town five years later. The series has already obtained a remarkable 90%. Rotten Tomatoes score after debuting on July 1 on other channels in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Therefore, it is very imaginable that A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ends up on our most productive Netflix. shows the list.
