ORLANDO, Florida (AP) – Walt Disney World and the union of their actors and singers reached an agreement Wednesday that will allow them to return to work, more than a month after they said they were excluded from reopening the park hotel theme for publicly not easy coronavirus testing.
Disney agreed to have a state COVID-19 check for The Florida theme park staff and public. The resolution encouraged the Actor’s Equity Association to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that would allow actors, singers and level managers to return to work.
“We are convinced that testing is a vital detail to secure an office for fair players, and today I am pleased to see that Disney World has accepted,” Kate Shindle, chairwoman of the Actors’ Equity Association, said in a statement.
The union represents 750 Disney World workers.
Disney officials told their staff that there would be a compromised check tracking for their staff and their families, and that reservations can be made to verify from Thursday.
“As a reminder, the tests are voluntary and the cast members will be paid for the time of the tests,” Says Ice.
Later on Wednesday, Disney issued a saying that authorization of the verification sites did not meet union claims.
“The Florida Division of Emergency Management will operate on site, which will be available to distribution members and their families, as well as Florida residents,” he said. “Our movements help all stakeholders and our network as a whole.”
Fair association actors filed a complaint against Disney World, alleging that its members were retaliating for non-easy coronavirus testing before Disney World theme parks reopened visitors last month after being closed since March due to the pandemic. Some 220 actors and singers were called first to return to work, but the invitation was cancelled after the union made public their considerations of the lack of evidence, according to the union.
It was not known how many actors and singers would be retired now that an agreement has been signed.
