Alamo Drafthouse offers personal movie rentals at $150

Even if theaters start to reopen across the country and security protocols are in place, you can rightly be afraid of those sitting next to you. Would your emotions replace you if you knew everyone in the theater? Alamo Drafthouse is betting on this concept because they are offering personal movie rentals in Austin and Colorado.

For $150, you can hire an entire theater for up to 30 friends with a movie from your selection based on a list of 40 options. In addition to the rental fee, consumers will have to purchase their own ticket, which is the popular general access value, ordered via a secret Drafthouse link given to the renter for transmission. Another minimum purchase of $150 of food is also required.

With an average entry value of about $12 in those first two launch spaces of the program – called “Your Own Private Alamo” – this equates to $660 in total, taking into account rental fees and the minimum amount of food, or $22 consistent with the user if a full organization of 30 other people participates. It’s not a bad value for a dinner and a movie, especially for those who need to get back to the big screen, but who hesitate to insert a full room of strangers during a pandemic (it’s another total question about how much you accept as true with those you can invite).
