HBO Max is uploading its catalog with new videos and TV in August.
Need a new TV show? Selena Gomez will check her culinary skills at Selena-Chef, while Ravi Patel’s Pursuit of Happiness will see the actor explore cultures around the world. In addition, DC’s Doom Patrol, crime drama Perry Mason, comedy-drama I May Destroy You and documentary series I’ll Be Gone in the Dark will end their season with a finale.
In terms of movies, HBO Max will showcase recent hits, adding Birds of Prey, Jojo Rabbit and The Way Back. You want something completely new? Try An American Pickle, a comedy-drama in which Seth Rogen plays a 1919 immigrant who meets his great-grandson, the PC programmer (also performed through Rogen) today. You can also watch Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn, a documentary about the tragic murder of a black teenager in 1989 in New York.

Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams teamed up with Misha Green to produce Lovecraft Country, a new drama horror series about a young Black man named Atticus who journeys across the United States in the 1950s in hopes of tracking down his missing father. However, in addition to facing endless racism, Atticus must also confront a group of terrifying monsters.
If the 10-episode series looks like the trailer, it’s sure to be a terrifying adventure. Terrifying music, crisp camera angles and nearby terrors caught our attention.
