AMC cinemas delay reopening in Cumming

CUMMING, GA – AMC Theaters announced Thursday that it will delay reopening amid an outbreak of coronavirus cases in several U.S. states. And a replacement on Warner Bros. dates. ‘Tenet’ and Disney’s ‘Mulan’.

In the past, the company had set its reopening date for July 15 and then postponed it to July 30. The cinema chain now plans to open sites “from mid-August to expiration,” according to several reports.

AMC Theatres is located in Cumming at 12 AMC Avenue Forsyth.

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. announced that it will take off “Tenet” from the release schedule, but still plans to open the film sometime in 2020. Disney is also expected to delay the premiere of “Mulan” and other primaries. The films are contemplating new release dates.

Previously, AMC Theatres had expressed “substantial doubts” that the company could continue to operate if pandemic closures continued. In its most recent earnings report, the company reported a loss of $2.2 billion as a result of coronavirus closures.

AMC also stated that it planned to open rooms as soon as it was legal according to fitness and social distance guidelines.

In June, after facing serious online criticism, the company announced that all visitors would have to wear a mask once the cinemas reopened.

AMC also plans to implement a number of protection measures for viewers, adding non-public protective equipment, cleaning protocols, limited movie capacity, and locked seats.

“We are confident that we are taking the steps on a wide variety of fronts to ensure AMC’s long-term good fortune as we overcome those turbulent and dubious times,” AMC Chief Executive Adam Aron said in a statement.

AMC has 1,000 locations worldwide, with more than 11,000 screens, on its website.
