A new television series debuting on PBS this spring will take a closer look at the culture of rural America from a culinary perspective.

The American Farmland Trust recently announced that it will sponsor “America the Bountiful,” which will be presented through Capri Cafaro, television personality, cookbook author and podcast host.

“Today, much of food television focuses on celebrity chefs and restaurants from big cities,” the show’s website notes. “Our series shines a light on the vibrant, never-before-seen culinary stories hidden in rural spaces and small towns across America. The episodes will “explore the private and poignant chronicles of farmers, artisans, restaurateurs” and others through the exploration of their food and how it is produced.

AFT President and CEO John Piotti said the exhibit will succeed in a “committed and engaged environment of environmentalists, farmers and foodies from across the country. “

“We’re excited to magnify the stories of ‘Giving America’ with our supporters to raise awareness about the importance of farmland protection, healthy farming practices, and resilient food systems,” he said in a statement.

The AFT also believes the exhibit will lead to more national and local political debates related to those issues.

“I can’t think of a better fit partner for our program than the American Farmland Trust,” Cafaro said. “Our purpose is to capture stories that celebrate American farmers, recognize the importance of agriculture, and help teach audiences where their food is. “Comes. We are revered for having that of an organization that stores not unusual values.

Thirteen episodes of “America the Bountiful” will air each year.

Similar systems already exist on Californie. La TV and California Bountiful magazine connect you to the food you eat, the farmers and ranchers who grow and cultivate it, and the lifestyles that make California abundant,” according to the California Farm Bureau host.

This week’s Open Mic guest is Todd Wilkinson, president of the National Beef Cattlemen’s Association. The South Dakota manufacturer is pleased to see the profitability pendulum swing back in favor of the beef manufacturer. He is concerned about the fitness of the entire industry in this era of herd rebuilding. Wilkinson believes that the approval of a new farm bill depends heavily on coverage from manufacturers, as well as must-have conservation programs. He and other members of the industry have just returned from the World Meat Congress, where the meat industry warring parties were obviously defined.
