If Andrew Lincoln is known for anything (other than going to his most productive friend’s space on Christmas Eve to profess his undying love for that man’s new wife), it would be more for betting on the steadfast survivor of the zombie apocalypse, Rick Grimes, in The Walking. Although most of his time as a star of this series ended in season 9, he recently returned in the spin-off sequel The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, but now he’s landed the follow-up role, and it’s not what he expected.
Directing a mainline TV series, especially one as action-packed and heartbreaking deaths as The Walking Dead, can consume a lot of the user’s time. This is probably even more true when said user (such as Andrew Lincoln) has to film in Georgia while much of his circle of relatives is in England, which is his country of origin. He hilariously explained his “terrible decision” to leave the zombie drama so he could spend more time with his spouse, children, and other family members. I didn’t expect him to cross the pond for his next project yet, but here we are.
According to Deadline, Lincoln signed on to star in and produce the ITV mystery Cold Water, which is his first United Kingdom project in more than a decade. The series will see him play a middle-aged stay-at-home dad named John who hides the fact that he’s “angry” about the state of his life and surprised by how temporary time has passed.
After he and his wife, Fiona (played by Indira Varma, also known as Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones), move their family to a small town in Scotland, John begins a friendship with his mysterious neighbor, Tommy (Ewen Bremner, Trainspotting). ). However, this relationship becomes increasingly “intense”, causing Fiona to worry that Tommy is not precisely who he says he is.
The series is written by award-winning playwright David Ireland (who produces with Lincoln and several others), and will also star Eve Myles (from the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, starring Varma).
Ireland described the series as a “dark, funny and twisted thriller,” which doesn’t distance it too much from the mark that Rick Grimes left by starring in The Walking Dead franchise for so long. But, as mentioned above, this will be his first gig on British television since 2010, when he played Hugh Collinson in Strike Back for five episodes.
Of course, this was the same year we first got Atlanta-based zombie alerts on TWD. Since his paintings on the iconic horror series are so comprehensive, it makes perfect sense that he hasn’t actually had much time to cross the pond to This Time makes other TV shows at home, although he first made a name for himself in England with shows like Teachers and This Life.
Conversely, his paintings on Cold Water, which will begin filming later in 2024, will have all TWD enthusiasts eager to see the effects of his next project, which likely means we’ll have to wait a while for an update. . about whether or not The One Who Live can have a second season.
