With the release of iOS 17. 2 and iPadOS 17. 2, Apple has made a server-side update that removes the ability to download TV screens and videos from the iTunes Store app.
If you check the TV Shows and Movies sections of the app, users are redirected to the Apple TV app. “iTunes videos and your purchases have been moved,” the app’s post says. “You can purchase or purchase videos and locate your purchases in the Apple TV app. “
During the beta testing process, the iTunes Store app continued to offer access to TV screens and movies. So, this is an update that Apple has made to its servers. With this update, Apple says in a help document that it’s no longer conceivable to offer movies or TV shows on an iPhone running iOS 17. 2 or later, an iPad running iPadOS 17. 2 or later, or an Apple TV running tvOS 17. 2 or later. As Sigmund Judge pointed out, there is always a solution to give away a movie or TV show using the search function of the iTunes app.
Apple made the same replacement for tvOS 17. 2 in the tvOS 17. 2 beta testing process. The standalone iTunes TV and iTunes Movies apps on tvOS no longer work and redirect users to the TV app on Apple TV. Apple has also redesigned the look and feel of the TV app on Apple TV, but no noticeable tweaks have been made to the Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad.
Apple is directing users to the TV app in order to aggregate all TV and movie content in one place. The iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad continues to offer options to purchase music.
