AS Roma sold from one American organization to another

ROME (AP) – The assets of Rome, three-time Serie A champion, are transferred from one American to another.

“The transaction is expected to close until the end of August 2020 and is subject to the standard final conditions,” Rome said Thursday.

“I must verify that we have reached an agreement with Friedkin Group for the sale of AS Roma,” said current Roma President Jim Pallotta, who runs an organization of Boston executives who bought the club in 2011.

Pallotta has been frustrated for years of delays in proposing a new stadium for the club.

“We signed the contracts tonight and over the next few days we will now paint in combination to complete the formal and legal procedure that will result in the club’s hand replacement,” Pallotta said. “Over the past month, Dan and Ryan Friedkin have shown their overall commitment to ending this agreement and advancing the club in a positive way. I am sure that they will be wonderful long-term owners of AS Roma.

The announcement arrives on the same day that Roma will face Sevilla in the Europa League of 16 after completing 5th in Serie A.

“Within Friedkin Group, we are very pleased to have taken the mandatory steps to be part of this iconic city and club,” said Dan Friedkin, president and CEO of Friedkin Group. “We look forward to completing the acquisition as soon as possible and immersing ourselves in the AS Roma family.”
