Filmmaker James Cameron has had a long and highly successful career, synonymous with innovative cinematography. Avatar is high on Cameron’s movie lists, and its first sequel, The Way of Water, finally arrived in December 2022 (and is now streaming on a Disney subscription). But there are a number of upcoming sci-fi videos that will be attached to the franchise, adding the Avatar: Fire trio.
Information about what Cameron has up his sleeve for long-term installments in the Avatar franchise is largely a mystery at this point. While friends like Arnold Schwarzenegger have visited the set, most of us don’t know anything. After a quote from the Titanic filmmaker advised him that he could let other administrators take over, he clarified it in a recent interview with THR. When asked if he would direct the fourth and fifth films, he replied:
Well, sûr. Absolument. I mean, they’re going to have to arrest me. I have a lot of energy, I love doing what I do. Why shouldn’t I? And they are written, by the way. I reread them about a month ago. They are wonderful stories. They have to be manufactured. Look, if I get hit by a bus and end up in an iron lung, someone else will.
There you have it. Despite the rumors circulating online, it turns out that Cameron is determined to remain the camera of the full-length Avatar films. That is, unless the study or something serious in his life forces him to move away from the record-breaking science movie. FI franchise.
This most recent interview helps explain Cameron’s intentions to remain in the Avatar franchise until it reaches its conclusion. This comes as a relief to fans of the franchise, who know that much of the good fortune of the films is due to the director’s hobby and vision.
Discussions about the new Avatar admins come from a past interview with James Cameron with Empire. He raised the option of the filmmaker intervening, saying:
The Avatar videos themselves are quite exhausting. I think that eventually – I don’t know if after 3 or 4 hours – I will have to pass the baton to a director that I accept as true to take over, so that I can do other things that also interest me. Or maybe not. Don’t know.
In his defense, the Terminator icon commented that he was not sure. And now, it looks like he’ll be sticking around for the fourth and fifth Avatar movies. So if you have other passion projects, they may take a back seat. Being for the moment.
Given the innovative way Cameron used motion capture and visual effects, it’s hard to believe there was anyone else behind the camera for Avatar. So enthusiasts deserve to be pleased that he’s sticking around. . . even if it’s necessarily a full-time job. job.
The first two Avatar movies are now streaming on Disney+, and the Fire & Ash trio is out on December 25, 2025. In the meantime, check out the movie dates for 2025.
