Bengali cinema icons rally for justice in RG Kar Medical College tragedy

Renowned actors and filmmakers from the Bangladeshi film industry have come together to protest the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the RG Kar Hospital and Faculty of Medicine in Kolkata. The incident, which occurred on August 9, sparked widespread outrage and many sectors reacted.

Prominent personalities like administrators Arindam Sil and Kaushik Ganguly, as well as actress Churni Ganguly, were among those who came together to seek justice for the victim. Bengali actor Saheb Chatterjee also joined the protests, highlighting the urgency for proper justice and effective responses to such acts of violence that erode public trust.

“Vesting our anger through protests and difficult justice is the most productive way forward,” Chatterjee said, adding: “Protest remains an important democratic tool to ensure the government addresses critical issues. ” The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) uses complex techniques, adding three-dimensional laser mapping of the emergency branch where the crime occurred, to advance the investigation.

Further, the CBI conducted mental tests on the suspect and a psychologist from the CBI team arrived in Kolkata on Saturday to facilitate the investigation.
