Billy Goldenberg, a two-time Emmy Award-winning composer, music director of Elvis Presley’s “Comeback Special” in 1968 and has worked on exhibitions ranging from Night Gallery and The Young and the Restless to Columbo, Kojak, Rhoda. and Steven Spielberg’s duel is dead. He was 84.

Goldenberg has painted on a lot of films and television systems, most commonly the latter, in a career that spanned 4 decades. His early paintings included television specials from the 1960s through Barbra Streisand and Ann-Margret and acting as music coordinator for the hull music series Hullabaloo.
In 1968, he was named music director of NBC’s Presley program, which would become known as the Comeback Special of ’68. A few years later, Goldenberg spoke of his show business legend, Spielberg, in his television movie Duel, starring Dennis Weaver as a motorist terrified by the invisible driving force of a giant platform on lonely stretches of the road. The 1971 harvest was the first long-term Oscar winner’s feature film as director.
From there, Goldenberg will compose music and/or themed songs for dozens of TV series, adding Columbo, The Young and the Restless, McCloud, Harry O, The Name of the Game, Kojak and Rhoda, as well as dozens of TV movies. He won the Emmys for a couple of miniseries: King of 1978, starring Paul Winfield as Dr. Martin Luther King, and The Lives of Benjamin Franklin in 1974.
The New York venue won another 19 Emmy Awards in his career, for his paintings in exhibitions such as Columbo, Kojak, for which he wrote the memorable theme song: Dark Victory, An Evening with Diana Ross, Helter Skelter, Bare Essence and People Like Us. . His big screen credits come with Woody Allen’s The Last of Sheila, The Domino Principle and Woody Allen’s Play It Again Sam.
