One of Bristol’s biggest cinemas is set to close its doors after failing to agree the terms of a new lease.
The Cinema de Lux was a key addition to the Cabot Circus grocery shopping center when it opened in 2008.
The cinema has announced that it will screen its latest film at the end of the month after failing to reach an agreement on the terms of a new lease.
Showcase, which operates the 13-screen Bristol Cinema, is no longer accepting bookings for screenings after Nov. 30.
Showcase owns 16 cinemas in the UK and adds one at Avonmeads Retail Park in St Philips.
Crispin Lilly, managing director of Showcase Cinemas UK, said: “We would like to thank all the visitors who have visited us since we opened in Cabot Circus in 2008 and we hope they have enjoyed their time with us.
“We would also like to thank our committed team of on-site workers for their passion, determination and hard work, especially in the past challenging years.
“We are committed to delivering wonderful film reporting for Bristol audiences and look forward to consumers seeing our other cinema in the city, less than 3 miles away in Avonmeads. “
