As some companies with big dreams of AI believe, smartphone users need nothing more than advice, entertainment, and interaction with virtual chatbots. Meta is betting so much on this idea that it has just announced a first effort to allow other people to design custom AI. chatbots that adapt exactly to your preferences. But while corporations like Meta are looking to zero in on the most engaging types of AI interactions, they’re also learning a lot about what doesn’t work. And as Meta has learned the hard way, that includes celebrity-based chatbots.
Meta brought its celebrity chatbots last September with a total of 28 accounts, all featuring a featured user’s image and express characters. It was all a bit strange, without even employing genuine celebrity names – you can just interact with “Lorena”. the expert, based on Padma Lakshmi, or chat with “Coco”, Charli D’Amelio’s dancer. At least those stick to the tone of the other people they’re based on, but others seemed like wild leaps: Paris Hilton as “Amber,” the detective “to solve crime novels,” or Snoop Dogg, not as the resident hashish sommelier but as the “Dungeon Master. “Ready to help you plan your next tabletop adventure.
Ten months later, Meta is putting those chatbots back in the shed for some Old Yeller stock. The Information reports that the Facebook and Instagram pages of all of those bots went offline earlier this week. The company showed the site that it has discontinued the feature. highlighting what he took away from the experience, explaining: “We learned a lot from building it and Meta AI to understand how other people can use AIs to connect and create in unique ways. ”
Depending on timing, we expect many of those classes to become the basis of Meta’s new AI Studio offering, where, instead of opting for all those disparate prepackaged characters, users can take the time to create a custom experience. It may not last either, but you need to be told what doesn’t work before you can figure out what does.
