Having not done any business last summer, Chelsea is now in a position to move things forward and do them quickly.
Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have shown the most to be Blues players for the 2020/21 season, while Mario Pasalic will get cash as his move to Atalanta becomes permanent.
But that’s not where it ends. Here’s the latest news about some other ins and outs as we start to get a concept of what Frank Lampard’s team will look like next season… if the Blues manager succeeds in all offers, of course.
Willian’s long career has yet to be decided, with the un contracted winger evaluating his characteristics for the next campaign.
One of those options looks to be Arsenal, with Sky Sports News HQ (via Inside Futbol) reporting that the Gunners have made the Brazil international a formal offer.
Former Anzhi player will be on paid by the end of the month, and is wanted by Chelsea, the club does not appear to have responded to his three-year contract requests.
Arsenal, on the other hand, would be willing to give Willian a longer contract while allowing him to stay in London.
Kai Havertz, the subject of significant interest from Chelsea, is available to represent current club Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League while waiting for his future to be resolved.
The 21-year-old, who has the purpose of his 17-purpose club this season, remains a goal for the Blues.
For now, however, he will have to start against Rangers, as Leverkusen continues his Europa League crusade on Thursday.
“If I want players who are in danger of being suspended, they will continue to play. Our purpose is simply to pass,” said Leverkusen technician Peter Bosz.
Leverkusen had a 3-1 lead in the stretch, with Havertz scoring in the one-way match at Ibrox.
Chelsea are believed to have progressed as they continue to reach an agreement with Leicester City’s left-back Ben Chilwell.
That’s according to Football Insider, with sources telling the publication that progress has been made ahead of a deal likely to be worth £50m.
Chilwell is seen as Frank Lampard’s main target for a position he wants to strengthen, with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri connected to movements this summer.
The defender was a regular as Leicester finished fifth in the Premier League last season, 4 blues tracks.
