Cinema Eye’s top prestigious award will now be given to entire artistic teams, administrators and producers only

The on-screen attendees, known by Cinema Eye as the Unforgettable Honorees, will also receive a special touch in 2025. Until now, those winners have never won trophies or been received at the level of the awards ceremony, but all of that will replace next year . Cinema Eye will call its Unforgettables winners from up to 8 films when it announces its nominations this fall and will invite them all to the level at the 18th annual awards ceremony in January.

Submissions for nonfiction films and short films will open next week, June 26, with the deadline for short films on August 7 and the deadline for films on August 21. The full list of nominees will be announced on November 14 and Cinema Eye Honors Week will take place January 6-9, 2025, concluding with the 18th Annual Awards Ceremony at the New York Academy of Medicine in East Harlem.  

Other winners of the 2024 Cinema Eye Award include “32 Sounds” for outstanding achievement in nonfiction feature films, Maite Alberdi (“Eternal Memory”) and Kaouther Ben Hania (“Four Girls”) for outstanding achievement in directing, and Mstyslav Chernov, Michelle Mizner, Raney Aronson Rath, Derl McCrudden and Vasilisa Stepanenko (“20 Days in Mariupol”) for outstanding achievements in directing nonfiction feature films, Maite Alberdi (“Eternal Memory”) and Kaouther Ben Hania (“Four Girls”) for outstanding achievement in directing and Mstyslav Chernov, Michelle Mizner, Raney Aronson Rath, Derl McCrudden and Vasilisa Stepanenko (“20 Days in Mariupol”) for outstanding achievement in production management.
