Kaltura Digital Media Hub is an audiovisual curtain portal for the University. It is designed to be the headquarters of the university’s audiovisual media. All University staff will have an account on the portal. You’ll be here to download, create and organize your own media to share with colleagues, academics or the world.
One of the benefits of hosting media in Kaltura is that videos can be incorporated into the University and are available to everyone in the world, while videos hosted on YouTube can be blocked in other countries.
Access the All Kaltura Digital Media Hub MUSE menu.
Kaltura and support
Media can be published to the portal to make them available to everyone, such as YouTube. You can also publish media that are only available to others within the University, to a small peer organization, such as in an organization or study department, or even to keep it personal for you.
Content can be organized into playlists in a similar way to YouTube. Therefore, you can organize multiple videos and specify the order in which they are played. If your videos are private, you can also generate an integration code for your playlists and use it to integrate media into other websites.
Content can also be published to channels. Channels are similar to playlists and may include playlists. Channels differ from playlists, however, in that channels can be configured to allow other degrees of their content to others.
Each media detail in the Hub has a link to its own media entry page, similar to the URL of a YouTube video. You can also get an integration code for a media item if you have sufficient rights over it.
You can use the integration code to integrate video clips into Internet sites such as the University’s online page, the CMS.
The CiCS TEL team can publish Hub content to iTunes U. Tap [email protected] if you want to publish content to the University’s iTunes U website.
Soon, we’ll post content directly to the University’s key YouTube channels. There will be one channel for each faculty, as well as the Central University YouTube channel. We suggest that you publish your content through the university’s central channels, as they have a giant subscriber base.
Content can be posted to the University’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Tap Corporate communications for this.
