RIRIE – A local music festival will be held this weekend that will include not only music, but also a variety of family activities.
The South Fork Music Fest will be held Friday, Aug. 16 through Saturday, Aug. 17 along the South Fork of the Snake River at the Aspen Grove Inn near the Heise Bridge in Ririe. This is the first year that the festival has been open to the public, since the following two years the occasion in which an artist is exhibited is limited to friends and family of the musicians performing.
“It’s an opportunity to see if the network has an appetite for an annual music festival,” explained Caleb Brown, director.
Brown, along with program director Colter Wilson and Derek Parry, co-founded the event. The multi-day festival will feature two stages and 20 bands will perform. There will be regional bands and touring artists who will bring a variety of other musical genres to the community.
“On Friday the line-up is made up of more acoustic groups. There’s a champion violinist, Tim Hodgson, who stands out for being in the Bar-J Wranglers,” Wilson said. “On Saturday we have great bands: rock, funk rock. We are very happy to have a multi-genre festival.
There will be food for purchase, fly fishing workshops and raffles. Local businesses donated items for the raffle, adding prizes such as a Yeti cooler, a fishing rod, annual shooting diversity membership, and gift cards to restaurants and cafes.
“There will be a lot of raffle prizes that other people can take house to house,” Wilson said.
A demonstration of youth skill will take position to start the two days. Brown said everything they had done in the afterlife and that they were eager to continue.
“It’s a fun way to open up the scene,” Brown said. “(Giving young people a chance). “
Event organizers address the topic of recreation and will have speakers talk about recreation between presentations. The Snake River Animal Shelter will also be bringing a dog to the event in hopes of having them follow him around.
“We are thrilled with the assistance we have provided to others and are excited to see as many other people as possible,” Wilson said.
Tent sites will be available for those who wish to camp at the event. For more information on availability, tap Aspen Grove Inn or Mountain River Ranch.
The festival costs $20 for the entire weekend depending on the children, those under 18 are free. To purchase tickets and learn more about the event, visit the event’s online page or Facebook page.
