After being portrayed as a giant hurricane-like cloud with no personality in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Galactus has a shot at cinematic redemption. Ralph Ineson has been cast as the planet-eater in Fantastic Four, which is set to be released in 2025. Naturally, major points are being kept under lock and key regarding how Galactus is used in the upcoming Marvel film, however, Ineson He explained how his son trained him in Marvel history while praising the film’s story.
Ineson, known for projects such as the UK edition of The Office, Chernothroughl, The Witch and The Green Knight, stopped by Movie Dweeb to talk about his career, with Fantastic Four being one of the most recent topics of conversation. The actor commented that there is no way he will keep a casting like this “completely” a secret, so he spoke early on with “some” other people he “trusts a lot” about Galactus, and added his son. It’s very practical, as he said when asked what idea he had for the script:
It’s good. I’m not the one who knows the whole Marvel story. My son is an expert. He’s 25 years old, so he’s been sending me to school for the past few months.
Needless to say, over the years, many actors have joined a superhero movie without even having read a comic book, and not everyone has time to dive deep into the original curtains and prepare for their role. Fortunately for Ralph Ineson, his son went there to pass on wisdom about Galactus before the production of The Fantastic Four, probably as he was given his start in the pages of 1966’s Fantastic Four #48, how he was once a resident who survived what went before. Big Bang, and how he uses heralds like The Silver Surfer to locate planets that allow him to get his life force.
Between that and giving his father advice on what to read, it turns out that Ralph Ineson has a pretty good handle on dealing with Galactus, which has led him to appreciate the Fantastic Four story even more. He continued:
He taught me all that. yes, I got the part, read the script and thought, “This is cool. “And now, the more I perceive the universe [and] how it all fits together, I think, ‘yes, this is great. ‘
It will be a while before we know what exactly Ineson discovers “really cool” about the Fantastic Four. However, it’s worth noting that Silver Surfer also appears in the film, rather than being Norrin Radd as is traditional, it will be his love interest in the comics, Shalla-Bal, played by Julia Garner. It was also announced that the Fantastic Four would take place in a different universe than most MCU movies and TV shows take place, which makes me fear that this movie could show Galactus destroying this version of Earth.
The Fantastic Four series also includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirthrough as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, among others. The film directed by Matt Shakman and written by Josh Friedman will be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
