Coronavirus Travel: the capital of abandoned Mallorca

Every year, more than two and a half million British tourists go to Mallorca on holiday.

Magaluf has long been the holiday capital of the island, where young Britons have been coming every summer for decades.

But there has been a massive drop in the number of tourists from the UK, in part because Mallorca has been added to the list of destinations where travellers must quarantine on their return. Magaluf’s main bars and nightclubs were also closed by police after clubbers were filmed ignoring social estrangement regulations.

BBC News spoke to two British Club representatives who ran out of paintings and lived in a ghost town.
