Could Zack Snyder’s plans for Justice League come true? Here’s what the director says

The superhero genre continues to be a major force in the entertainment industry, whether in television or film. The DCEU as we know it came to an end with Aquaman 2, the projects can still be revisited with a Max subscription. While moviegoers wait for Gods & Monsters to launch the new DCU, there are still enthusiasts hoping that Warner Bros. will restore the SnyderVerse and provide Zack Snyder with two sequels for his cut of Justice League. But is it possible that Snyder’s plans for Justice League will still come true? says the director.

When filming Justice League in 2016, Snyder originally planned a three-film narrative. Sequels never came after the film failed to impress, with Joss Whedon collecting and editing many of the narrative seeds Snyder was planting. But The Snyder Cut worked well with Max, leading to enthusiasts needing to see upcoming DC movies that stick to this story. It doesn’t seem that the studio is interested, the filmmaker has floated the idea of continuing the story with comics, in particular illustrated by Scott Snyder. Zack was asked about this option via The Hollywood Handle, and he replied:

yes, I mean, the fact is, we were talking about: wouldn’t it be cool to do something together, you know?Scott was a big inspiration for us in the movies. And I think he’s a wonderful artist. The fact is, I’ve been so busy with Rebel Moon that I haven’t had the chance.

There you have it. Although nothing is happening right now, it seems like Zack Snyder needs to continue his Justice League stories on the page. Although he’s been a little busy working on the Rebel Moon franchise (which streams with a Netflix subscription).

In addition to generating those films, Snyder also worked on the director’s cuts for Rebel Moon, which shows just how much he invested in this sci-fi property. But the filmmaker’s enthusiasts are known for his restraint, so discussions about a sequel to the Justice League comics will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

One of the main reasons moviegoers are so interested in seeing the two Justice League sequels on screen or on the page is the Knightmare Reality sequences that appeared in Batman v Superman, as well as the Snyder Cut. He teased that Superman would turn into darkness. He appeared after Lois Lane’s death, thus becoming an evil agent of Doomsday. Who doesn’t need to see the Man of Steel in this new light?

The Snyder Cut revivals come with a new Knightmare series, revealing the ragtag team of rebels who banded together against Superman in this reality swap. They come with Batman, The Flash, Cyborg, Mera, Deathstroke and Jared Leto’s Joker.

Unfortunately, it’s unclear if and when the comic book sequels will happen. For now, we can review the DCEU on Max. Check out the video release dates in 2025.
