Cybill Shepherd, 74, unrecognizable in rare appearance 35 years after the end of the hit 80s series

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Cybill Shepherd was spotted in a rare public appearance more than three decades after starring in a hit ’80s comedy-drama.

The actress, 74, starred in the 1971 coming-of-age drama The Last Picture Show alongside Jeff Bridges, before The Heartbreak Kid, Taxi Driver and Alice.

However, one of his biggest screen successes came after being in the crime comedy-drama Moonlighting.

The series, which ran from 1985 to 1989, starred Cybill and Bruce Willis as detectives Madolyn “Maddie” Hayes and David Addison.

It’s the first lead role for Bruce, 69, and put Cybill back in the spotlight after a nearly decade-long absence.

During her time on the series, Cybill won two Golden Globes for Best Actress in a Television Comedy/Musical Series from 3 of the nominations.

After appearing in Taxi Driver, Cybill faced a series of less successful roles and turned to her friend Orson Welles for advice, with the noted director encouraging her to gain a level of outdoor experience in Los Angeles.

She then returned to Memphis to work in regional theater, where she remained for a decade before being cast in Moonlight.

More than 30 years later, Cybill made a rare public outing and photographed a grocery shopping vacation in Los Angeles.

Dressed in an all-blue suit, she covered the summer day in a long-sleeved blouse and jeans that she paired with aviator shoes and sunglasses while walking with a male partner.

Throughout its five seasons, Moonlighting was nominated for 16 Emmy Awards, but ultimately ended for reasons such as Bruce not being able to star in more films after the good fortune of Die Hard and Cybill, who had just given birth to twins and getting tired of the long days of production.

The lead stars also had a long-running feud, with Cybill once saying that they “hated each other” while racing together.

However, in 2022, she shared a rare comment about Bruce following the announcement of his aphasia diagnosis, that she would “always love him. ”

Cybill then starred in the television sitcom Cybill from 1995 to 1998, and in later roles added Phyllis Kroll in The L Word and Linette in The Client List.
