The Highlands of Harbor Springs Continues Renovation of Donald Ross Memorial Field

As part of a multi-year transformation effort to renovate the North Michigan Donald Ross Memorial at The Highlands in Harbor Springs, another 4 renovated holes are now open. This 18-hole course is a recreation composed of vintage golf holes from iconic locations. which the father of golf course architecture in the United States designed in the early 20th century.

Newer completed holes include Hole 2 (No. 4 Plainfield Country Club), Hole 13 (No. 15 Seminole), Hole 15 (No. 11 Aronimink) and Hole 16 (No. 10 Pinehurst No. 2). it has now been renovated to Ross’ original designs, and more holes are expected to be renovated in the coming years.

Thirty-five years ago, BOYNE Golf founder Everett Kircher had a vision to create a new golf course exclusive at the time, one that paid homage to the golden age of ancient architecture and Ross courses. His vision is to recreate some of Ross’ iconic golf courses in his most productive courses east of the Mississippi River. The address features ancient interpretations of historic sites such as Seminole, Pinehurst No. 2, Oakland Hills, Oak Hill, Scioto, Detroit Golf Club, Aronimink, Wannamoisett, Plainfield, and Inverness. to name a few.

Pennsylvania’s Axalta to acquire Brighton-based CoverFlexx Group

Philadelphia-based Axalta Coating Systems, which has a facility in Mount Clemens, has signed an agreement to acquire CoverFlexx Group in Brighton. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to regulatory approval and standard final terms. The contract is disclosed.

Cepton in Troy Announces Engineering Contract with Koito

Macomb Community College Foundation Recognizes Donor Impact

The Macomb Community College Foundation identified donors whose contributions fund scholarships and the program budget that help scholars and their good fortune at the 2024 Donor and Scholar Celebration on May 1 at the Lorenzo Cultural Center on the school’s central campus in Clinton Township.

The event was attended by approximately 175 donors, academics and school representatives.

More than $470,000 in scholarships were awarded to approximately 680 Macomb Fellows during the last fiscal year, from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. In addition to scholarship programs, grassroots contributions also help program funds, adding arts and culture, which advance the university’s project to reshape lives and communities through the strength of education, enrichment, and economic development.

The new scholarships and program budget announced at the luncheon include:

Andrew “Drew” Garcia Information Technology Memorial Endowed Programs and Scholarships Fund, established through Devon and Lauren Glass in memory of Macomb alumnus Andrew Garcia. These budgets provide monetary assistance to scholars enrolled in a data generation program.

The Food for Thought Student Pantry Endowed program, created through Mark Nuytten and Donna Domanke-Nuytten for the Macomb Student Food Pantry, which supplies non-perishable food to students and their families affected by monetary hardship.

Fox Elementary School Endowed Scholarship, established in honor of Sue O’Brien, Brenda Shepherd and Debbie Gilletti for their determination towards their students. Those who attended Fox Elementary School are eligible for this scholarship to achieve their educational and career goals.

Gjon Gjonaj Electrician Program Fund, established in memory of Gjon Gjonai for Macomb Electricians Program scholars.
