DC FanDome will come with a sneak peek of Snyder Cut from director Zack Snyder’s 2017 film Justice League.
Kind of like Comic-Con, but only for DC. So not Avengers (it’s Marvel). But if you’re a fan of DC characters like Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman and Aquaman, you need to connect. And this fandom occasion deserves to go far beyond the big names. It will cover everyone from DC, from comics to videos, TV screens and video games.
Unfortunately, the deal follows reports of mass layoffs in DC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, about a third of the company’s publisher lost its job, as did most of the DC Universe streaming service, as its parent company, Warner Bros., focuses on HBO Max, recently introduced.
There are video panels and online previews to watch, links you need to stick to for games and shopping, and more. Warning: Unlike the virtual Comic-Con, which lasts several days, DC FanDome lasts only 48 hours, so it’s two busy days. So if that’s your thing, don’t make any other plans for August 22 and September 12.
“As in a live event, dc FanDome’s full delight will only be available for 24 hours,” warns FanDome’s list of frequently asked questions. “If you don’t see it for 24 hours, don’t see it (unless you have access to time travel).”
DC has announced that half of the experiment will be called Hall of Heroes. Its schedule is an eight-hour block, which will be re-run 3 times the 24-hour timeline, so that those in other global time zones can connect.
Hall of Heroes will provide programming, panels, and content that showcases everything DC. There will be smaller satellite worlds, such as KidsVerse, that can be navigated from there. The programming will be available in German, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, English, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese.
DC has announced a long list of hosts, presenters and special guests. The list Aisha Tyler, Venus Williams, Will Arnett, Idris Elba, Ezra Miller, Jason Isaacs, Kaley Cuoco, Matt Reeves, Michael Rooker, Robin Wright, Viola Davis and Henry Winkler.
