Department of Defense Symptoms Agreement with BioFire Defense to Increase Production of COVID-19 Control Kits

The Ministry of Defence (DoD) has reached a $3.1 million agreement with BioFire Defense’s bioMerieux subsidiary to develop the production capacity of COVID-19 verification kits.

The company will use the investment to install two new production lines at its Salt Lake City plant to expand kit production in September, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

BioFire verification kits are designed to paint with the company’s FilmArray panel, a tool designed for users to identify pathogens related to an infectious disease.

The agreement is part of the joint Procurement Working Group’s efforts for the availability of medical resources through the Title III program of the Defense Production Act.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has added new executives to its chairman and replaced the role of an existing broadband advisor within the agency. Sean Spivey joins the FCC President as an advisor on wireless and foreign matters.
