At last night’s Daytime Emmy Awards, Disney had the ultimate chance of winning a trophy, with 48 nominations for Disney Channel and Disney Junior. But with 10 wins, HBO won the top awards in children’s programming overall, thanks to the exclusive 50th anniversary celebration of Sesame Street and Sesame Street.
Both systems jointly won 10 trophies in the children/animated categories, non-dramatic systems, non-dramatic crafts and non-dramatic artists. Sesame Street won the prestigious Outstanding Children’s Series award in Preschool, which she won last year.
Apple TV has beaten all contenders in the category of exceptional viewing series for children or families, with its first win for Ghostwriter, produced through Sesame Workshop and Sinking Ship Entertainment.
And the Mouse House has done very well. Disney Channel won five awards and Disney Junior won four, for a total of nine child/animation victories. The big Disney winners were Elena of Avalor (pictured) and Tangled, who won 3 trophies each, adding the two notable writing titles.
Here are this year’s winners in several keys for children; the rest of the winners can be seen on the Emmys website:
