Disney World has delayed the reopening of some of its hotels and kept others closed and were expected to reopen as coronavirus cases continue to increase in Florida.
Many Disney hotels reopened in June, while others remained closed when the theme park reopened on July 11. Since then, Disney has replaced the reopening dates of some of the hotels it had announced in the past.
According to an update on the Disney World website, Polynesian Village Resort will reopen in October and the Art of Animation Resort will reopen on November 1. Previously, the two complexes were scheduled to reopen on August 12.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort and BoardWalk Inn, which were scheduled to reopen on August 24 and October 1, respectively, will be closed until further notice.
Disney added that other Disney hotels would remain closed.
“We will continue to evaluate the scenario and reopen more sites when the environment allows,” the corporate said. “While those plans would possibly evolve, we will monitor the ever-changing fitness environment and have an effect on the state of Florida as we locate the right time to receive more from our customers.”
As of Sunday, Florida had recorded more than 432,000 cases of coronavirus, more than any other state in California, according to the State Department of Health. The state has now overtaken New York, the original epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak nationwide.
Disneyland, California, scheduled to reopen on July 17, but this was postponed without a new date being announced. California has more than 453,000 cases of coronavirus, according to the State Department of Public Health.
