Michelin and Mickey Mouse now cohabit in the same place, thanks to the Michelin Guide of Florida.
The 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Miami, Orlando and Tampa announced on Thursday, April 18, the awarding of stars to nine more restaurants in the area. Today, Florida is home to 26 Michelin-starred restaurants, and Joel Robuchon’s Atelier Miami tops the list with two stars.
“Since the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide in Florida in 2022, the state’s local culinary scene has grown significantly, proving that Florida is a premier dining destination for travelers from near and far,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides. . « In addition to the nine new MICHELIN-starred restaurants, we are excited to announce Green Star restaurants in the variety for the first time, demonstrating those restaurants’ commitment to more sustainable cuisine.
New to the list are new Tampa restaurants, Ebbe and Kosen, as well as 3 Miami restaurants, EntreNos, Ogawa and Shingo. Àrlando, Camille, Natsu, Papa Llama and Victoria and Albert’s also received openings. The last one has a special designation: it’s at Disney World.
Located in the Grand Floridian Resort, Victoria and Albert’s is notorious for its difficulty in getting reservations for an opulent Victorian-inspired meal. The pre-set meal costs $295 depending on the user, with optional wine pairings starting at $155 depending on the user and zero-pairs on trial starting at $115. “It’s an honour to be identified through Michelin for the cutting-edge gastronomic pleasure our team brings to life here in Victoria.
Michelin was inspired by Chef Sowers’ “contemporary verve,” drawing on influences ranging from Asia to the Nordic region. Dishes like New Zealand’s sensitive prawn pies, new sandwiches made with venison carpaccio and red cabbage, and ambitious sauces like cherry and cola bordelaise, all inspired by The Anonymous Inspectors. Other highlights, such as water lists, ornate coffee and tea service, and serious wine programming, also made a strong impression and earned the Disney World restaurant its first Michelin star.
