Disney World gives passholders through August 11 to cancel the club and get a refund

PASCO COUNTY, Florida – Disney World offers pass holders until the end of August 11 to cancel their club and get a refund.

However, a circle of Tampa relatives who filed an early termination request contacted Taking Action reporter Jackie Callaway after suffering to get her cash back.

Michelle and Steve Benulis paid about $1,500 for 3 Disney passes annually in November to continue taking their 10-year-old daughter Katie to the theme park.

“It was an investment, but we knew we’d get a lot of use and laugh a lot,” Michelle Benulis said.

But after the outbreak of the pandemic, and after much discussion, the couple said they would not be in danger of returning to Disney this year, even after the park reopened.

Michelle Benulis called Disney to cancel her subscription and said she was expecting a prorated refund of more than $1,000, but said the theme park had credited her account for less than $400.

“We were surprised,” he told ABC Action News.

The circle of relatives called ABC Action News after saying they spent hours on the phone with Disney but had nowhere to be found. We contacted Disney and asked what happened to the rest of the refund.

Michelle Benulis, a representative of Disney’s visitor service, contacted them a few days later.

“After we talked to you, it was when another representative called, basically, said it was a misunderstanding. They regretted that this amount was for the months when the parks were closed,” Benulis said.

In July, Disney sent their full refund for their passes to the family circle.

Disney has not responded to a statement request for this story, however, on its website, the company states that any passholder who requests to cancel their club until August 11 will get a refund until mid-September.
