Now it’s time to shine!
“American Idol” arrives in Texas on August 22 and is less difficult than ever to audition. Because the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon, “Idol Across America” bids farewell to its live casting auditions and, for the first time, practically looks for Season 4 talents.
“The start of the fourth season will give hopefuls the ability to showcase their talents from anywhere in the United States, on any official audition date and face-to-face with an [Idol] manufacturer,” the ABC series said on its website. “[He] remains true to his roots by offering real-time observation to aspiring idols on his way to being crowned as the next American Idol.”
TEXANS MONTENTAN THE SCENE: Texan over the years on ”American Idol”
Idol Season 3 winner Samantha Diaz, better known as Just Sam, sang her winning song and was also virtually crowned in May. He went to YouTube to give five tips to the hopefuls as they prepared for the big stage. (Well, it may not be the real step, but you have it.)
The first thing, he said, is to play.
“Make sure you connect with the camera, open your eyes,” Just Sam says. “You’d probably audition from your bedroom or living room, but you have to treat it like you’re on the Idol scene in front of millions of people.”
In the case of bloodless feet, remember: Kelly Clarkson of Fort Worth won the show’s first season in 2002. Eighteen years later, she has owned more than a dozen awards, adding three Grammy Awards and 15 nominations. “Breakaway” (2004) is also one of the most important songs of all time. Don’t argue with me.
So, do you have what it takes (including zooming) to impress the judges?
