MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee’s oldest movie theater is officially back up and running.

A rite of opening was held at the Downer Theatre on Friday, April 12. The historic site is a vital component of this year’s Milwaukee Film Festival, which kicked off Thursday.

“There were some difficulties around COVID and unfortunately the theater closed, but now, thanks to this partnership with Milwaukee Film, it has reopened,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson. “We do some screenings and other people can come and enjoy some of the film reports all over the city. “
