THE CRUCES – Take your popcorn! Walmart recently announced that drive-ins will arrive at some places in Las Cruces in late September.
Retailers have partnered with the Tribeca Film Festival and are turning 160 of its car car parks across the country into drive-ins.
At Las Cruces, it will be screened at Walmarts at 3331 Rinconada Blvd. and 1550 S. Valley Drive
In early July, 4 workers tested positive for COVID-19 at the Supercenter Rinconada Walmart. The store closed on a Saturday afternoon and reopened the following Sunday morning after a Walmart spokesman said the store had been cleaned and disinfected.
According to Wamart, the drive-in will offer a contactless experience. The restrooms will be Walmart’s internal outlets and viewers will make sure to wear a mask when entering the store. Walmart also asks all participants to wear a mask when they exit their vehicle. All staff on site will use an PPE and will maintain a six-foot distance between the rest of the staff and participants. All parking spaces will be socially distant from each other.
The Walmart in Rinconada will show “Selena” at 7:30 p.m. September 25 and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse” at 7:30 p.m. September 26th.
The Walmart on Valley Drive will show “Selena” at 7:30 p.m. September 29 and “Spy Kids” at 7:30 p.m. September 30.

Tickets are loose, but will have to be ordered in advance, according to Walmart.
Allen Theaters still offers its drive-in at Telshor 12 at Las Cruces, 2811 N. Telshor Blvd. The new screen will work until cinemas are allowed to reopen in New Mexico.
