Dubai: With the new paid parking formula coming into effect at the Dubai Mall from today, July 1, 2024, did you know that if you need to revisit the mall on the same day, if you return after two hours, you will have to revisit the mall on the same day?To benefit from flexible parking hours again?
Gulf News spoke to Ibrahim Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, which operates the mall’s paid parking system, for explanations on how paid parking is calculated and how cars entering parking zones will be tracked.
“When a vehicle enters the paid parking area, its license plate is captured through the cameras. The Salik formula then processes this symbol to identify the license plate and its related account, recording the time of entry. “The license plate and parking fee, calculated based on the time elapsed since entry, is deducted from the user’s Salik account,” Al Haddad said.
“Visitors who re-enter the mall after a two-hour period would be new access and would be eligible for free hours again. For those who leave and then enter within two hours of exit, this will be a continuation of past parking and you will be charged accordingly according to the slabs laid through the Dubai Mall,” he added.
Al Haddad also clarified other facets of the paid parking system, adding the spaces where it will be applicable and how drivers will be charged.
“Salik’s parking control formula will be applicable to Fashion Parking, Grand Parking and Cinema Parking,” Al Haddad said.
“The amount will be deducted from the guest’s Salik account once the guest leaves the parking lot. Parking fees will be charged to the guest as per the business regulations established through Dubai Mall,” it said.
“To use the Dubai Mall parking lots, the user must have an activated Salik account with sufficient balance. If the user’s balance is not sufficient, the outstanding parking fees will be deducted once the user’s Salik account is recharged,” he said.
