Each ‘Harry Potter’ movie ranked from smallest to largest at the box office

With Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone about to (re) launch in China today, there’s a clever chance of Warner Bros’ first bankruptcy. a generational franchise of success. earns enough to surpass the undespted billions mark. Global benefits. So to commemorate the occasion, I sorted the 8 Harry Potter films starring Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson/Rupert Grint in the developing order of global revenue, from lowest to highest, with a trail of trivia at the box office. Also, just for fun, I indexed the film’s annual rating as well as its position on the list of all-time global wholesalers at the time of its release. And yes, I noticed the inflation-adjusted domestic gains in the end. So, without further ado …

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

Budget: $130 million

Opening weekend: $93.69 million

National Box office: $249.76 million

Global box office: $795.63 million

National 6, 1 foreign, 2 world, 11 hours of all time

In a destination shared through the first Star Wars trilogy, the critically acclaimed top installment is also the least profitable of the group. Alfonso Cuaron succeeded Chris Columbus and proposed a visually creative replacement for the rhythm. This character-centered bankruptcy (the calm before the storm) introduced our young heroes by acting more like “ordinary” youth and their adult teachers (including Michael Gambon replacing the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore) doing more than just acting like educators. Through the respective standings, sixth in North America but only Shrek 2 ($928 million) in the world during the year, Harry Potter has not lost its rhythm abroad. There was talk, due to the national front load, that Warner Bros. I wasn’t sure the series would succeed at seven pounds, however, The Goblet of Fire’s forged functionality answered that question.

Harry Potter and the Secret Chamber (2002)

Budget: $100 million

Inaugural Weekend: $88.36 million

National Box office: $262.23 million

Global box office: $878.75 million

National 4, 1 foreign, 2 world, 7 of all time

Although it has been positioned The Lord of the Rings: the two towers ($936 million) in the world and is sometimes considered one of the smallest odds (in component because it is perhaps the least essential bankruptcy in terms of plot). and long-running narrative), was a rare example of a big-budget sequel that really costs less than its big-budget predecessor. Thanks to a returning cast and team (Columbus will lead for the time being) and many repurposed locations and scenarios, The Chamber of Secrets remains, with the exception of Deathly Hallows component 2 “two films for an award”, the ultimate success cut throughout the JK Rowling Catalogue. It was the seventh biggest worldwide hit at the time, only the first two films of Lord of the Rings, the last Harry Potter film, Titanic, The Phantom Menace and Jurassic Park.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Budget: $150 million

Opening weekend: $102.68 million

National box office: $290.20 million

Global box office: $896.68 million

National 3, 1 foreign, 1 world 1, 7 of all time

Mike Newell, who often saw himself (even through me) as the show’s most productive e-book, led this fundamental bankruptcy that saw Voldermort return from the dead and bring the first wonderful victim into the present. The numbers speak for themselves, even though it has gained a little less in the national market than The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ($292 million). Fun fact: the damned Cedric Diggory is played by Robert Pattinson, who of course would play Edward Cullen in the twilight series. When I first made the impression on the screen, maybe part of my audience on the opening night of IMAX faded audibly. These thirsty teens (and young adults) were obviously ahead of the curve. The physically powerful national rebound that every WB needed to have interaction throughout the seven-pound series and pull Harry Potter out of the shadows of rival fantasy franchises.

Harry Potter and the Half-Breed Prince (2009)

Budget: $250. Million

Opening weekend: $77.84 million ($158 million on Wednesday)

National Box office: $302.09 million

Global box office: $934.76 million

NationalArray Overseas, 2 World, 8 of all time

The sixth Harry Potter film was delayed from November 2008 to July 2009, partly because of Warner Bros. was already drowning in Dark Knight. The revival of the date has interrupted the year-end calendar, in particular by allowing Twilight not to open in December, but in the same position before Thanksgiving, where Harry Potter was a huge success. Twilight opened with $69 million and the weekend before Thanksgiving has unofficially become home to large fantasy franchises for young adults. The mixed-breed prince would position the country’s third Avatar ($760 million) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($409 million), but would position the third Avatar abroad ($2 billion) and, yes, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs ($690 million).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Budget: $150 million

Opening weekend: $77.1 million ($139.72 million on Wednesday)

National Box office: $292.14 million

Global box office: $942.64 million

National 5, 2 abroad, 2 world 2, 6 of all time

One of the most productive films, though based on the worst e-book, Chapter Five grossed only $2 million less than Pirates of the Caribbean ($651 million) abroad, while either of them beat Spider-Man 3’s overseas cumes ($558 million), Shrek. the third ($491 million), Ratatouille ($419 million) and Transformers ($390 million). The Order of the Phoenix was the first to open over a weekend from Wednesday to Sunday and opened at about the same time as the J.K. launch. Rowling’s seventh and final ebook on Harry Potter. The climax of the film’s action, a great wizard war between “Dumbledore’s army” and “Voldermort’s Death Eaters,” was presented in 3-D for IMAX auditoriums. David Yates made his franchise debut, and will direct the last four Harry Potter films and (so far) the first two Fantastic Animals films. I hope Christopher McQuarrie takes notes on how to end up on a high note and not ruin the prequel franchise imaginable.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I (2010)

Budget: $125 million

Opening weekend: $125.02 million

National Box office: $296.13 million

Global box office: $960.43 million

National 5, 2 overseas, worldwide, 8 of all time

It would be the only year a film in the Twilight (Eclipse) saga would surpass a rival Harry Potter film, as Summer Threequel was also the only Twilight film to surpass $300 million nationwide. It was Toy Story 3 ($415 million), Alice in Wonderland ($336 million), Iron Man 2 ($312 million) and Eclipse at home, while Alice in Wonderland ($690 million) paved the way abroad. Perhaps if Warner had Bros.no given up last-minute 3-D conversion, Harry Potter 7.1 could have triumphed over Alice and Toy Story 3, but congratulations on doing the right thing, rather than the easy. Personally I can attest that the most productive film in the series (you listened to me) looked and sounds impressive in the excellent IMAX 2-D.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001)

Budget: $125 million

Opening weekend: $90.29 million

National Box office: $317.87 million

Global box office: $974.71 million

National 1, 1 Abroad, World 1, 2 of all time

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II (2011)

Budget: $125 million

Opening weekend: $169.19 million

National Box office: $381.19 million

Global box office: $1.342 billion

No. 1 national, No. 1 abroad, No. 1 in the world, No. of all time

The eighth and final Harry Potter film was, thanks in part to a 3-d (frankly horrible) conversion and partly thanks to everything that “ends the one-generation film saga,” the third-largest film of all time. Titanic ($1.8 billion in 1997/1998) and Avatar ($2.78 billion in 2009/2010). He broke the opening weekend record, earning $169 million with the same symbol on Friday and Sunday when Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight did the same with $158 million in 2008. It’s still Warner Bros. increased unsweeaked global profit. Because WB shot Deathly Hallows 1 and 2 at the same time, both films were produced for a total of $250 million, making Harry Potter 7.2 the group’s maximum “performance rate” with $10.73 times its official budget of $125 million.

Epilogue:

With the exception of exceptionally unprofitable payment (Prisoner of Azkaban) and unusually superior bankruptcy (Death Relics Part 2), the Harry Potter series remarkably consistent over its lifetime of 9.5 years. Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 contributed between $879 million and $961 million internationally, a diversity of only 10%. All earned a total of $7.73 billion internationally with a combined budget of $1.155 billion, giving them an average return rate of 6.7x, which remains the best for a leading box office franchise. Part of that is due to the fact that the franchise consistently earns roughly $900 million internationally when $150 million is a massive budget for a wonderful movie.

For inflation-adjusted domestic crude oils, they are classified: Philosopher’s Stone ($526 million), Relics of Death Part II ($451 million), Fire Cup ($426 million), Chamber of Secrets ($423 million), Order of the Phoenix ($400 million). ), The Half-Breed Prince ($381 million), prisoner of Azkaban ($379 million) and Deathly Hallows Part I ($349 million).

While we’re going to see if Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone can earn $25 million more to take it to more than $1 billion worldwide, each access would be just over $1 billion if it adjusted to inflation. Nine years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the part of the moment, brought everything to its crushing climax, Harry Potter 7.2 is, surprisingly, in twelfth place, only the fourth oldest film of the 25 most sensitive Titanic (1997 to 3), Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003 to 24) and Avatar (2009 to 2).

Regarding the length of Warner’s Crown Jewel franchise Bros.al final of his series, the 8 Harry Potter films accounted for 25% (8) of the 32 most successful films of all time until the release of box office hit The Avengers in May. 2012. Whether it’s a coincidence or a destination, Marvel didn’t approach the hyperdrive until Harry Potter finished his career. Even today, only nine Marvel videos (out of 23) make up the 32 largest manufacturers in the world, and one of them (Spider-Man: Away from Home) was a Sony film.

Oh, and in case I’m curious, except that I “like” at least every eight, the quality rating would be (in ascending order) Array.. Chamber of Secrets (B-), Mestizo Prince (B-), Philosopher’s Stone (B), Prisoner of Azkaban (B-), Breaking Fire (B-), Deathly Relics Part 2 (A-), Order of the Phoenix (A-) and Deathly Hallows Part 1 (A) Array If you are dismayed to see that I classifies 7.2 as number one, just know that A) my wife and mom agree with you and B) you are wrong.
