Even Michael Weatherly thinks the name NCIS: The Tony and Ziva spin-off isn’t right

As the 2024 TV lineup progressed, we learned a bit more about what’s to come, and enthusiasts had a few months to get used to the concept that NCIS’ Tony and Ziva spin-off will be called NCIS: Tony and Ziva. It was announced that the director of the temporary series, Michael Weatherly, some enthusiasts liked the title, but others felt that it might need a bit of work. It turns out that Weatherly himself happens to belong to the latter camp.

In fact, the most popular comment in a Reddit thread about the show’s name is literally an F-bomb, followed by this statement: “I hope writers are better at telling stories than naming. Others advised changing the name of the series based on a location, like other iterations. , with Europe being a controversial option. (That would make sense given that the series is filmed in Budapest. )Eventually, some looked for a cooler subtitle, suggesting less apparent titles like NCIS: Trust No One and NCIS:D.

Weatherly and his crime-solving wife Cote De Pablo were on hand to talk about the upcoming show as the cast gathered at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. Speaking on the occasion (via La Gazette de Monaco), Weatherly admitted that the upcoming show will still possibly regret the announced title.

We have just finished the casting process. The series will be called NCIS: Tony, Ziva, and Tali, because their son is in the midst of their worries. At NCIS, our characters didn’t have one. So they acted in a very private manner, according to his wishes. When you have a child, you need to find what’s most productive for them. At the same time, Tony and Ziva will also have to save the world. Tali is the most productive character to introduce new problem resources.

Personally, I like this addition. Weatherly had said that Tali was very vital to the NCIS spin-off, so it fits in with other comments made about the TV series, which deserve to be different from what has been done before for their characters. foreign site NCIS announced, but viewing will be available to those with a Paramount subscription and will have some of the benefits of being a streaming series. That is, it was discussed that the series did not want to program more than 20 episodes or stick to the procedural format.

Cote de Pablo also clarified precisely what that would mean at the festival, and it seems that the cast is positive (or I say optimistic) about how different the new series will be.

There will be no flash symbol with a dead frame at the beginning. We wouldn’t possibly have to solve a crime, and in the end, everything will work out and everyone will return to their dysfunctional family!(laughs) We wanted to remove our two characters from the firm and expand them internationally. The other big difference is the format, as we’re doing ten episodes instead of 24. And we shoot ten hours a day!

It will possibly still be a while before this hits TV screens, as there are plenty of NCIS projects going on right now, adding the highly anticipated prequel Origins Cooking. Weatherly and Co. Filming has not yet begun at the festival, although it will take place this summer. Because of this, we may not get Tony.

Season 3 of The Bear is beautiful, but I was disappointed with this ending.

I saw The Lost Pilot for the first time and it’s okay. . . I get it.
