Ruby and Billy can avoid running now: HBO canceled the mystery Merritt Wever /Domhnall Gleeson Run after a season, according to our sister Deadline.

“After exploring possible tactics to continue Ruby and Billy’s journey, with showrunner Vicky Jones,” HBO said in a statement, “we took the decision to move on with a run season.”

Created through Jones (Killing Eve) and produced through Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Run starred Wever and Gleeson as former lovers Ruvia and Billy, who went out on the road in combination through a pact they made years ago to ‘abandon everything and across the country if they sent everyone else a “RUN” text message. Waller-Bridge made an on-screen appearance just like taxidermist Laurel.

Run debuted in April, with its seven-episode freshman season ending May 24. The season finale ended in a suspense, with Ruby and Billy splitting up after Ruby discovered that the total was just a book publishing tactic for Billy. (Read our season 1 finale summary here).
