The Kansas Jayhawks and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have agreed to replace their home and home series scheduled for 2020 and 2021.
Under the previous deal, Kansas was scheduled to face Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium in Conway, SC, on September 26, 2020. The game back at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas, was scheduled for September. February 11, 2021.
Due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), the Big 12 has moved to a convention schedule in nine games with an unconventional game. The only stipulation was that the unconventional game be played in the state of team Big 12’s home.
As a result, Kansas will now receive Coastal Carolina in Lawrence in 2020 and the game has moved from two weeks to Saturday, September 12. The game back in 2021 has kept the same date as with the place replaced, which will see the Jayhawks face the Chanticleers in Conway on September 11.
“We appreciate the cooperation of the Kansas Sports Administration to work with us to keep our series intact,” said Coastal Carolina athletics director Matt Hogue. “We’re looking into this year’s competition.”
In his first and only grid crash last season, Coastal Carolina went to Lawrence and disappointed Kansas 12-7. Coastal Carolina’s first victory in a Power Five program.
Carolina Coastal Kansas’s game is recently scheduled for the opening of the 2020 season for schools.
