Ferrari presents a massive e-sports championship, and you may be your next driver

It has been a difficult year for the sport, however, while many groups are adapting to the new restrictive schedules without their fans, others are launching events and emerging something completely new from the explosion of demand. Today, the world’s best-known racing organization is strengthening its control over e-sports.

Ferrari today presented the “Ferrari Hublot Esports Series”: a tournament open to all players who feel the wheel in their own home. This new logo of the GT esports championship will use Assetto Corsa’s software platform to offer a variety of competitions in which all drivers will participate in a Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, exclusive to all participants.

During a live Zoom presentation held today at 4 p.m. CET (10 a.m. ET), the organization, along with the driving force of Ferrari F1 and declared eSports fan Charles LeClerc, revealed to a variety of foreign media, adding Forbes.com, which he was hunting for new skills to sign up for his first festival. While the pros will also be invited to the series, Ferrari hopes the amateur festival will be fierce, with battles in “hundredths of a second”.

Ferrari will open the registrations for all budding drivers on August 7. From there, a qualifying circular will be held in September to locate the 24 amateur drivers who will participate in the Ferrari Hublot Esports AM Series. At the same time, 24 established Esports drivers will compete in their own PRO Series, competing on the same circuits as their AM counterparts.

The 12 fastest drivers in the AM and PRO series will face off on a 24-year-long grid and will compete in 4 races in October. The elite will move on to the last one in November, when the winner will be selected after a three-race battle.

The overall champion will be presented with the “experience of a lifetime”: the opportunity to enroll in the Ferrari Esports FDA team for the 2021 season. Although this role is basically a reserve driver, they will have the opportunity to attend events, participate in a variety of e-sports tournaments, not just F1, and if they cut the mustard, they can be placed next to the existing F1 sports champion. David Tonizza at the highest level.

Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Hublot takes its partnership with Ferrari to the virtual world of eSports, while the “technical partner” is Thrustmaster, which continues to produce a wide variety of Ferrari licensed guide wheels for consoles and PCs. Ironically, Thrustmaster’s wheels had many startup issues at Assetto Forza Competizione at launch, so I hope all the problems were resolved when the race starts.

At the moment, the front is only reserved for 18-year-old European citizens. However, Ferrari plans to make it a global opportunity in the future, and commented at the press convention that it “wanted to create a forged base before opening it up to the world.”

Starting next Friday, simulation drivers will register on the Ferrari Esports website. In the meantime, you can stick to the occasions on Ferrari Hublot Esports Series’ Instagram, Twitter, Twitch and Facebook accounts.
