FFXIV Patch 5.3 Releases Soon: Free Trial, End Of Shadowbringers, Next Nier Automata Raid, And More

Editor’s Note (August 7, 2020): This article was originally published on April 24 and updated on July 22. It has been updated to reflect the latest news about the FFXIV 5.3 patch.

The next update to MMORPG Square Enix Final Fantasy XIV is in the form of patch 5.3, subtitled Reflections in Crystal. It was first detailed through director/producer Naoki Yoshida and network leader Toshio Murouchi on Livestream Letter From The Producer in April, and the newest livestream revealed the 5.3 trailer while deepening long-term content. The new major plot searches will serve as a reconciliation of the Shadowbringers’ narrative arc with the Crystal Exarque in the midst of what appears to be a dramatic conclusion. You can watch the trailer below, but be warned, this may just spoil some facets of the Shadowbringers story.

A new four-player instant dungeon, called The Heroes’ Gauntlet, will be included – it will paint with the Trust system, which allows you to run it along the tale’s NPCs as AI partners to fill the required roles. There will also be check-in combat similar to the big tale, but this has not been revealed so as not to spoil the surprise.

The next patch includes the planned rationalization for the fundamental game A Realm Reborn, in which about 13% of its major mission series were eliminated or condensed. One of the notable criticisms of the fundamental game is the amount of padding that did not advance the story. Mission XP gains have been adjusted so players can meet their needs accordingly. Another addition to be made is that players will be able to disassemble borrowed mounts in these old spaces once they have finished the series of fundamental game missions.

If you’ve given the game a chance, patch 5.3 especially smooths out ffxiv’s free test offer. Free trial players will be able to play the A Realm Reborn set and the first Heavensward expansion; this includes all post-release content via patch 3.56 that leads directly to the Stormblood crawl extension. You’ll be able to climb to point 60, access classes/jobs like driver, astrologer and black knight, and also play as an Au Ra character.

All players who have not yet made the 24-player The Crystal Tower Alliance Raid series will be required to do so at some point before continuing the big tale in Update 5.3, and the game will tell players. Either way, this series of raids will be mandatory for those who complete the key game for the first time when the patch is mounted, as it is directly similar to the shadowbringers tale arc.

The other addition to the FFXIV 5.3 patch is the next episode of Nier Automata YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse alliance raids – alliance raids are 80 to 24 players. This new dungeon is called The Puppet’s Bunker and the trailer showed parts of the beat itself, and the vivestream gave a first glimpse of one of the boss’s fights. You’ll venture into a YoRHa area bunker, take on familiar enemies from Nier Automata, and continue scenario 2P.

Nier Automata’s first raid, The Copied Factory, arrived here with patch 5.1 and brought many things you recognize from this game in FFXIV for its own contained story. If the classic cadence follows, you may be waiting for the 3rd and final bankruptcy of the raid series in patch 5.5, when possible.

Several other changes and additions are set to 5.3, adding changes to categories/jobs and new PvP content. Secondary content abounds in this update, adding more to the Save The Queen, Resistance Weapons, Sorrow Of Werlyt, and Tribes search series. The last livestream gave much more key points about the example for 72 players from bozjan’s South Front. The categories of designers and waste pickers will gain advantages from quality of life innovations, such as changes in the collectible system, a traditioner of tradition delivery, a test summary and recipe searches in your inventory. The new content of ishgarde recovery and innovations in Skysteel equipment are also planned for patch 5.3.

There are many more changes, additions, and new content elements included in this next patch, and you can get more key points in FFXIV 5.3 on the official Square Enix for the upgrade, or you can browse the FFXIV 5.3 patch notes for all the key points about the changes (although post-class changes have not yet been revealed).

Limited-time Unreal trials are scheduled with each new patch, which syncs previous Primal boss fights up to level 80 while increasing their difficulty. Patch 5.3 will feature Shiva in the Akh Afah Amphitheater fight. Beating these boss battles earns you a chance to play the Faux Hollows minigame, but not much else was detailed.

Due to the cases surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, corporations around the world have adjusted their operating conditions, adding Square Enix. Patch 5.3 originally scheduled for mid-June, but is now expected to be introduced on August 11. To be more informed about FFXIV, be sure to read my last interview with director and manufacturer Naoki Yoshida where we communicated about the transition to a new storyline, the creation of the Crystal Exarch character and the state of the characters’ yetts in the game (yes).
