He’s about to open a new cinema in Sutton Coldfield, which has been deprived of one since the dark days of the pandemic and national lockdowns (that!?) in 2020. The former Empire, and before that Odeon, in Maney Corner is set to open this weekend with the goal of Deadpool and Wolverine opening on Friday, July 26 at 4:40 p. m. , at Royal Cinemas Sutton Coldfield, under the direction of Des Christie and the new owners, PDJ Cinemas.
The Royal has undergone a general overhaul with new screens, audio systems and seats. A new lobby and a new bar and lopass balcony make this a destination cinema. A stall to stop by for an appointment or simply to see the latest blockbuster.
The price is competitive, for what you get, less expensive than an Everyman or Odeon Luxe and a fraction more than Vue in Star City with arguably a much greater experience. It offers an Art Deco atmosphere with modern elements to make the eye delight. the most productive imaginable in 2024.

Manager Des said the finale had “exceeded expectations”. And he can’t wait to welcome moviegoers to his old cinema, the old Empire, which he controlled for 8 years. Here’s a review of what you can expect from his visit. But nothing will prepare you for what you’ll see when you enter.
The opening date and time are subject to last-minute incidents and the cinema will operate at full capacity with all 4 screens in use and films will be screened early next week. Check the Royal Cinemas online page and the venue’s social media channels, Facebook and Instagram, for the latest information on openings and reservations. Sutton, in spite of everything, will recover his cinema and it is time for moviegoers to return.
