FPT’s Industrial Engines Drive Construction of World’s Longest Submerged Tunnel

Turin, January 30, 2024. FPT Industrial, logo of the Iveco Group (EXM: IVG), specialized in complex propulsion technologies, plays a central role in the structure of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, an 18-kilometer-long tunnel that will supply the fastest shipping connecting Scandinavia with Central Europe and is expected to reach the longest submerged tunnel in the world.

FPT Industrial, through its distributor Bimotor S.p.A., has supplied its state-ot-the-art F36 Stage V engines for power generation to CGM, a leading producer of generation sets. These gensets are currently in operation at the massive Fehmarnbelt construction site, which includes the largest concrete factory in the world.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel, co-financed through the European Commission and whose final works are scheduled until 2029, is a monumental commission consisting of 79 popular details and 10 special details. The detail structure requires a significant amount of reliable, ready-to-use materials. The commission entrusted this task to CGM generator sets powered by FPT Industrial engines.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel structure is a addition to the European sustainable shipping network of the future. It will offer the fastest and maximum direct direction between Denmark and Germany, while reducing CO2 emissions and alleviating congestion on existing roads and railways. The transformational task is fully in line with FPT Industrial’s commitment to sustainability and further validates the unique benefits of the brand’s force-building solutions.

Iveco Group N. V. (EXM: IVG) combines other people and exclusive logos that reinforce its business and its project to move towards a more sustainable society. The 8 logos constitute a major force in its express business: IVECO, a pioneering advertising vehicle logo that designs, manufactures and markets heavy, medium and light trucks; FPT Industrial, a global leader in a wide variety of complex powertrain technologies in the agricultural, structural, marine, power generation and advertising vehicle industries; IVECO BUS and HEULIEZ, logos of public and premium maritime transport buses and coaches; IDV, for highly specialized defense and civil cover teams; ASTRA, a leader in the segment of heavy-duty quarry and large-frame automobiles; MAGIRUS, the industry-renowned manufacturer of automobiles and firefighting equipment; and IVECO CAPITAL, the financial company that backs them all.
