San Diego Comic-Con 2024 will come to a close on Saturday night, but Marvel Studios revved up enthusiasts once again with a big return to Hall H. While the news cycle and conversations may revolve around Robert, Downey Jr. ‘s shocking return in the MCU. Like Doctor Doom, fans also got a glimpse of another main villain. Shortly after the enthusiasts present got confirmation that the Fantastic Four movie had a new title, they were given a quick look at the celestial villain, Galactus. And it’s definitely worth talking about.
It’s still crazy to think that Galactus will appear in a Marvel movie again, for the first time since his appearance in The Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer. Readers will probably be happy to see that it doesn’t look like the cosmic cloud featured in This 2007 film has a different look than the one CinemaBlend had the privilege of seeing on the Hall H panel, so it’s time to talk about it.
Fantastic Four: First Steps just topped the list of upcoming Marvel videos that I’m most excited about, and Galactus turns out to be a great promotional point. The Eater of Worlds was introduced only briefly, and it’s worth mentioning that its appearance component was a reel of animations meant to basically give attendees an idea of what the film will do in terms of taste and tone. That said, we only saw the huge villain crouch down to look out a skyscraper window from the room’s attitude. .
We didn’t get a full photo of the antagonist’s frame, however, the overall appearance and texture of his frame resembled that of the dead Celestial Tiamut featured in 2021’s Eternals. That said, he is not a component of the main continuity of the MCU (Earth- 616), as it was in the past, showed that this new FF movie would be set in a swap universe with a retro-futuristic atmosphere. For example, the rocket the team took into space didn’t even remotely resemble the spacecraft the audience is seeing. you are probably familiar with it.
Seeing Galactus look more like himself and not a cloud is cool, however, I still have some considerations as a Marvel fan. I mean, let’s face it, this big being has looked like a giant guy in a suit. Intimidating indeed, the scale of the character must surely be large, and that’s not what was shown in this first look.

In my opinion, a Galactus that is tall enough to lean out of a skyscraper is rarely tall enough. To be a true Devourer of Worlds, he will have to be unfathomably gigantic and difficult to quantify. Like if I look into the distance, I can only see a part of his body. This Marvel villain is meant to be able to eat planets, and the character I saw wasn’t big enough to do it. Give us a closer look at the drone exhibit featured at this year’s SDCC!
Fortunately, what enthusiasts saw was probably not the final design for the villain of Fantastic Four: First Steps. The CGI of Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, can replace him, and there is still enough time to make him as big and responsible as Marvel needs. so be it. While I think this replacement is necessary, I’m also excited to see what the MCU edition of this iconic villain will look like in all his glory.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters on July 25 as part of the 2025 film lineup. In the meantime, those who wish to re-watch Galactus’ first film appearance in Rise of the Silver Surfer can do so by streaming the film with a Disney subscription.
