The upcoming movie “Pawn” shared Ha Ji Won’s first photographs in the character!
“Pawn” is about Doo Seok (Sung Dong Il), a debt collector who seems intimidating but good-hearted. One day, he will recover the debt of an illegal immigrant named Myung Ja (Kim Yoon Jin), who provides his young daughter Seung Yi as collateral. However, Myung Ja is eventually deported and Doo Seok has to raise Seung Yi as his guardian. The young Seung Yi is played by young actress Park So Yi and Ha Ji Won plays the oldest edition of the character.
This is Ha Ji Won’s first Korean film in about 4 years. She will show chemistry with Sung Dong Il and Kim Hee Won (who plays Doo Seok’s assistant), and all 3 will touch the hearts of the audience with their warm story of expansion and love.
Ha Ji Won, who revealed that he wept after reading the script, shared his explanation of why he accepted the role, saying, “The audience will be able to deeply perceive “Pawn.” It’s a movie that’s needed right now.”
The film is directed by director (PD) Kang Dae Kyu, who in the past worked with Ha Ji Won on “Duelist” and “Haeundae”. He said: “Actress Ha Ji Won shows a solid game that audiences can believe. Even when we filmed the same scene several times, he warmed up the set with his laughter.
“Pawn” will launch in September.
