Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is “suffering” in a New York hospital as he recovers from COVID and double pneumonia, his spokesperson told Newsweek on Friday.
Weinstein, 72, was transferred from Rikers Island prison to the Bellevue Hospital detention center on Thursday to receive treatment for the “myriad fitness issues” he still suffers from on a daily basis. The disgraced former filmmaker, who is awaiting a new trial for his New York rape case, also tested positive for COVID and had double pneumonia in his lungs, he added.
When asked how Weinstein was feeling on Friday, Rothfeld responded in an email: “Harvey is not feeling well and is in pain, but is grateful to receive the medical treatment he wants at the hospital. “
Rothfeld added that there is no timeline for how long Weinstein would remain in Belleuve, but that he would continue to work with doctors to ensure “appropriate medical treatment. “
