NEW YORK – Harvey Weinstein was hospitalized for “countless physical condition issues” and also contracted COVID-19 and double pneumonia, according to his representative.

Weinstein, 72, has been transferred to the Bellevue Hospital Correctional Unit in Manhattan, his representative and consultant, Craig Rothfeld, said Thursday.

He is “receiving treatment for a host of fitness issues that he still suffers from on a daily basis, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, fluid in the center and lungs, and other conditions,” Rothfeld said.

“In addition, Mr. Weinstein tested positive for COVID and had double pneumonia in his lungs,” Rothfeld said.

Weinstein is lately awaiting a new trial in Manhattan on sex crime charges after his conviction was overturned on appeal in April. He is tentatively expected to be retried in November.

Prosecutors accused the movie mogul who fell from grace this month with raping more women than those included in his previous prosecutions.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and has expressed skepticism about any new accusers.

He is fighting a rape conviction in Los Angeles, where his defense attorneys have argued he did not get a fair trial. For this case he was sentenced to 16 years of criminal sentence.
