HEROES star Santiago Cabrera talks about his role as Aquaman in George Miller’s JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL

Many potentially wonderful superhero movies have failed to come to fruition over the years, George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal remains among the most intriguing.

Only snippets have been revealed about the assignment (a first cut of the script is circulating online if you look closely), adding the fact that the Mad Max director filmed it entirely in motion capture, like Beowulf.

Unfortunately, Justice League: Mortal ended up being a victim of the 2007/2008 writers’ strike, although it is well advanced enough to bring together an impressive cast of young actors. The concept of them evolving into their roles over a series of films that would have introduced a shared DC Universe around the same time the MCU was being created.

Adam Brody has been Barry Allen/The Flash, along with D. J. Cotrona as Superman, rapper Common as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Australian Megan Gale as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Armie Hammer as Batman, Australian actor Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Australian star Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul and Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman.

The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with the latter and found out how close he is to playing Arthur Curry in this CG DC universe.

“Technically, I was Aquaman in 2007, when the writers’ strike happened,” Cabrera said. “Just before I went to Australia, I was with George Miller. I’m a big fan, I think he’s phenomenal. And I had a little communication with him. My friend Tom Burke, who was in Furiosa, who I just met. loved, He said, “Hey, George says ‘Hello. ‘” It was like, “Would you like to be a superhero?”

“The strike came, so they put [Justice League: Mortal, which remained on the shelves] on hold. But being in his world, I went to Wētā, Peter Jackson’s FX company, where I tried on the costume. So it was very real, for a second, but at the same time, it’s like: Don’t do those things in this business, until it’s all figured out, until you’re in the first one and communicate it like I’m doing now. . , it’s never real. “

“Obviously, I’m excited about that,” the actor continued, confirming that he will star in some other Marvel or DC project.   “So if something comes back, I wonder why not. I’d love to move into bad territory, I think I’d enjoy it. “

After all, Justice League hit theaters in 2017 and the results were unpredictable. Joss Whedon was recruited through Warner Bros. to succeed Zack Snyder, and the result was a clever film that was largely a disaster. Director’s Cut followed 4 years later, but many enthusiasts still feel like they haven’t noticed the final editing of the gear on screen yet. Maybe DC Studios can replace that.

As for Miller, he followed the Mad Max franchise after the collapse of Justice League: Mortal, opting for this year’s Fury Road and Furiosa.
