During a hands-on experience of the game at Gamescom, we stumbled upon the TV and temporarily discovered that it was broadcasting genuine advertising parodies, some featuring Roiland’s own voice. We asked executive producer Matty Studivan how many things there were to watch, but he didn’t expect the response we got:
“So we did something quite strange. We have a TV in the living room during the game and you can watch it again. You know, Justin wanted to go back to InterDimensional Cable, which is a very attractive solution. “Popular things
More than 20 short films were made through various animators. But its duration is ridiculous compared to what television contains:
“On top of that, we’ve also licensed four feature films that you can watch in-game,” Studivan continued. “[Justin is] a big fan of Red Letter Media and Mystery Science Theater 3000. He’s just a big fan of those things, and he watches a lot of those movies, so he’s like, ‘Why can’t we do something similar in the game?’ No one did, so we thought, “Let’s figure out how to get a license for some movies! “
The videos are what Studivan describes as “Z quality,” the one we knew Tammy was.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the team took even more inspiration from MST3K by adding a commentator: “In addition to the shorts we made, we also created a kind of little introductory character of Elvira who will talk about the film, the intro and the ending, the announcements,” Studivan concludes.
You’ll be able to see all of this in action when the game arrives on December 13 after suffering a brief delay. We gained a new trailer for the game as part of Opening Night Live, which showed a raw boss fight.
